Question 3: The 1995 Policy Review and Since

Canada is a member of many international organizations, including the G8, NATO, the Commonwealth, La Francophonie, the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum (APEC), the Organization of American States (OAS) and the Arctic Council. Should our participation in any of these be strengthened, or adjusted?

Answer:
Canda should remove itself from military alliances like NATO and NORAD as they lack the attitudes, structures and practice of non-violent defence; they are grossly costly; they defy or plan to defy international legal judgement regarding the use or threat of nuclear weapons and the weaponization of outer space. Canada should continue with and should seek new alliances with like-minded nations for the purposes of improving quality of life for the human family and other living things in order to move to the universal implementation of human rights standards.
