Are values such as human rights, democracy, respect for diversity and gender equality ones that Canada should continue to advocate in all parts of the world? If so, what are the best ways of doing this?

Answer:
Human rights and democracy constitute this country's most cherished asset. Canada should be championing these values internationally, making it clear that these are not simply 'our' notion of good government. However political considerations seem to be getting very much in the way. We are reluctant to condemn the many governments who systematically deprive their people of these rights. The UN is in sore need of such a voice.
