Question 10: Values and Culture

Are values such as human rights, democracy, respect for diversity and gender equality ones that Canada should continue to advocate in all parts of the world? If so, what are the best ways of doing this?

These are worthy global goals. People should have the right to participate in all levels of life, including governing themselves althought this latter may no look like the kind of "democracy" that we practice
Teaching by example is always an effective way to transmit behavioural knowledge. We may have to question our way of doing things. For example, can we teach democracy when we use a first-past-the -post system and shroud much of international negotiations in secrecy?
