Let us begin to practice what we preach. How can a media service which is controlled by the wealthy be considered to represent anything other than Plutocracy(the rule of the wealthy)? Let us begin by making changes to our own corporately manipulated media which as Noam Chomsky states "only giv 1858 2003-05-01 05:00:13
Canada should allow all nations the right of self-determination without imposing our standards on any nation. However, we should not condone regimes in which the people are repressed. We should stress that these countries adhere to environmental and labour standards and human rights. 1867 2003-05-01 04:59:59
Yes. By always speaking up for them. By never apologizing for them. By never compromising them in our dealings with other countries or at home. In particular, by banning sales of military equipment or "dual use" equipment to countries known as human rights violators and to countries pron 1864 2003-05-01 04:59:47

For a society to continue to prosper (and not decline), we Canadians should aggressively advocate such high values as human rights, democracy, respect for diversity and gender equality in all parts of the world. Canada is known throughout the world for its peace-keeping efforts and giving humanitari Rafman 2003-05-01 00:35:46
Human rights and democracy constitute this country's most cherished asset. Canada should be championing these values internationally, making it clear that these are not simply 'our' notion of good government. However political considerations seem to be getting very much in the way. We a 1856 2003-05-01 00:35:34
Yes, and the best way to do so is to communicate clearly to the members of the international community aware that performance in these areas will determine the level of Canadian cooperation with those countries in the international arena.
