Shape foreign policy?

I will be only state the direction I think Canada should take on a few issues (busy with my thesis)

1. Expand our free trade deals to include more S. America - we should actively support the FTAA

2. Customs and border security need to be re-addressed. Perhaps not a full union with the US (but that should be looked at), however, a new agency that is like Homeland security will be required if the two nations are to contiune to work together effectively.

3. We need to clearly state what our position is in relation to the defence of North America. A common defence with our US counterparts.

4. Increase aid.

5. Rebuild the Commonwealth and use it as tool to help temper the 'hyperpower' of the US.
